RPLComputer broke. Went to North Carolina a week ago yesterday to take our son's valuables back. Arrived home last night about 8:30 PM. Will attempt to repair computer today. Headed up-North tonight. Computer up there collected a virus from one of her Prowler friends last time we were up there. Will attempt to get it back online this weekend. Other than that, she's been a lady of leisure.
Tytanium-KI knew I shouldda asked you first, Bob! But now we all know! Thanks for the update m'friend!

CJLady of Lesiure.....my a$$..... My son just returned from his 6-month deployment and I had to make a trip down there to bring back all his wordly goods (which we brought back with us after the robbery at his house). I spent the week down there helping him put the house back together, cleaning, yard-work (which hadn't been done in a while, yikes!) and visiting. We returned home late last night.

Just before I left, my operating system crashed. I was able to get on the site a few times and check my email a few times after he got his new laptop (the other was stolen) up and running again! He and I were out today buying new stuff for my computer to fix it. Hopefully, he will also be able to figure out what is wrong with the cottage computer (not a good month for computers here ). We will be up at the cottage this weekend, so I don't know if I will be able to post or anything or not. If not, I will be back online Sunday night.......barring anything happening to Bob's computer in the meantime!!

idiveTime for a guard dog. Statistics say that after a home is robbed, about 6 months later it gets robbed again, as the thiefs know that by then, most things have been replaced with insurance monies.
halicatwe all need a dog to take a bite out of crime......or a big ole gun !
jkburnsCJ and Bob:

Good to hear your son is back on U.S. soil. Please extend our heartfelt gratitude for his service on our behalf.

CJKevin..........thanks for the thoughts about my son...I will pass them on to him. I am VERY happy to see him again.....it's been a long time. He'll be with us for three weeks this time.......he's even going to SEMA with Bob for a few days. Will be spending some quality family time with him.......in addition to the week I already spent down in NC.

Mickey.....unfortunately, this robbery was specific. They only stole his guns......his safe (because we think one of the guns was in there) and his laptop. All of the guns were in different places.......and the police (and we) think it was done by someone who knew him and knew exactly where they were. The house was not tossed at all and he had a LOT of stuff someone could have taken and sold. The police think the same thing we do. We have a pretty good idea who it was, but proving it is a different story. It was difficult for him not being here during that time, so that is why we had to handle it for him. Still working on it.

CJ, so glad to hear you are getting to spend so much time with your son this time. As always please pass along our gratitude for his service as well. Especially from this Viet Vet. I hope you catch the perp who robbed his house.

TooHipCatCJ,
Another fellow Vet wishes to thank your son for serving this great country of ours. I know you must be so happy and relieved to see him. I know when I got to come home on an R&R flight when I was over in Beirut for 11 months...my Mom almost passed out she was so relieved!
God bless you all!
Brian

P.S.
I hope he doesn't have to return.

Randy CobbCJ & Bob -

Sorry about the robbery of your son.

Being a North Carolina native and resident I'm very proud of my state and the fact of a strong military presence here. I am NOT proud of the seedy people that some of the military towns seem to attract and the reflection on the rest of the state. Natives have always said that the US government selected to build Ft. Bragg in that area of the state because no one else would ever chose to live in that area with the humidity and landscape.

Sorry again for his troubles and PLEASE relay to him how so very proud we are of him for his service!

------------------

RPLNot impressed with North Carolina's finest. Our son lives outside of Fayetteville in Hoke County. The sheriff's office there has been an absolute joke. They told me that it was pronounced HOK not hokie county, as I referred to it. Very poor handling of the situation right from the begining. Local citizens deserve better protection and response from their local government. No one but us appeared to care that weapons were stolen (one was an AK47). Heck insurance covers it, doesn't it?
Bcoffman Gray GhostMy neighbor that lives across the street is stationed at Ft. Bragg. He is National Guard, I think. Not sure how long he will be there.
indy96CJ:
Glad your son is home safe. As a proud American and USMC veteran please tell him Welcome Home and thanks for the sacrifice on our behalf. We appreciate every single service person out doing their job whereever. Too bad he had to come home to a local sleaze
evil elf
CJ Really glad to hear your son made it home safe. Hope he doesn't have to go back anytime soon. I also know how it felt to be home with the family.
Enjoying life to the max~!~!
CJBrian says they don't call it "Fayettenam" for nothing! Unfortunately, there is a lot of crime in Fayetteville. This one, though, we believe was someone closer to home (so to speak).

Thanks all for the positive comments. My son is very proud of what he does. He is in Special Operations. We never know where he is, when he leaves or when he's coming back. He was hoping to be home for a while, but it looks like he may have to leave again in January...... He says that in the last two years, he's been gone over well over 500 days! We are thrilled to have him visiting his family for a few weeks.

ed monahanCJ, tell Brian thanks from me, also. Glad to hear he is home and you got to spend some time with him. Whoever stole the guns will probably get caught. Guns have serial numbers and with computers, they will never be very far away from being discovered. They can trace them back. If some idiot uses them for a crime, the path will come right back to the bad guy, in all probability. It may take awhile, but most crooks are not very smart.
That sticks that someone would burglarize a house of someone deployed over there. I hope they accidently shoot themselves with his gun (several times).
Tytanium-KCJ,
What the evil elf says goes double for me! So glad SHE is home for awhile! So, being re-assigned ONLY 500 miles from home after Nov 5th will seem a piece of cake after her 6-mos in Las Vegas [backfilling a position] plus her 7-mos in Kuwait/Iraq--serving US! I 'know' how it feels missing a loved-one in an uncertain/unspecified location for who knows how long! Glad Brian is home TODAY! ALL our Tomorrows are UNcertain! Remember 9/11 *~*
